Fiber Diffraction SIG Report - 2007
The fiber diffraction SIG did not sponsor a session at this year’s meeting, but we co-sponsored the FiberNet Fiber Diffraction Workshop at Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee, on August 6-9, 2006 with FiberNet, the NSF-sponsored research coordination network for biological fiber diffraction, and BioCAT, the NIH-supported research center that runs beamline 18-ID at the Advance Photon Source. The workshop featured neutron fiber diffraction, and included a visit to the Spallation Neutron Source at the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, tying in nicely with some of the themes of next year’s ACA meeting in Knoxville.
The SIG plans a session at the Knoxville meeting on the interactions of fiber diffraction with other methods of structure determination, to be chaired by Joseph Orgel.
Gerald Stubbs continues in the second year of his two-year term as the chair of the SIG; Amy Kendall as secretary, and Joseph Orgel is the chair-elect.
