Description of Azobenzene & Menthol - Mixed Before Melting

The image shows the morphology formed on cooling a binary mixture of azobenzene and menthol at the eutectic composition from above the eutectic melting point. The mixture was heated in an oven to above 60C and immediately transferred to a microscope slide with a cover slip and allowed to cool. The image was captured after equilibrating at ambient conditions for ~5 minutes. The faceted morphology of the crystals formed depend on the melting properties of the individual compounds.
