Other Annual Awards
Margaret C. Etter Student Lecturer Award - Each SIG has the opportunity to select one student to receive an award and to present a lecture in one of the sessions organized by that SIG. Selections are based upon submitted abstracts and are independent of whether the student presenter originally requested an oral or poster presentation. The elected officers of the SIGs determine award winners. Students who are selected receive a monetary award of $250, which is independent of any requests for support via the ACA Travel Awards.
Pauling, Oxford Cryosystems, Protein Data Bank, IUCr Poster Prizes - The Program Chair of the Annual Meeting shall organize a committee who reviews the contributions at the poster sessions
Student Travel Awards The ACA Education Committee reviews all applications for student travel support to the annual meetings and makes recommendation to Council.
Awards Given on an Irregular Basis (at the Council’s Discretion)
ACA Public Service Award. To recognize a non-crystallographer for contributions to science policy, to science funding, or to communication of crystallography to the general public. Awarded on an irregular basis at the discretion of the ACA Council. Because this award is usually granted to a public official or other high ranking person, a lead time of one or two years may be necessary to schedule the winner's attendance at the Annual meeting.
Service Awards. To recognize and honor the dedicated efforts of ACA members who voluntarily work on the business of the organization. Council members should bring names of nominees to the Spring Council meeting for discussion and voting. Winners will be presented with award at the banquet at the Annual Meeting.
