Research Interests: Structure of natural products,
macrocycles, heterocycles, small molecule service crystallography,
problem structures.
Statement: One of my favorite quotes: "If
you're not going to publish it, why do it?" (anonymous).
As I spend the majority of my professional time engaged in some
aspect of publishing, as author, editor, or referee, I am honored
to be nominated for this committee. If elected, I expect that
my 3 years of service as Acta Cryst. Co-editor will be an asset.
Otherwise, I'm sure my opponent will do a fine job. |

Statement: Publications allow an organization to
convey its goals, activities and achievements to the world at
large as well as foster communication among its members. Organizations
are judged largely by the quality of their publications. In addition,
publishing is rapidly evolving into a multimedia enterprise:
paper and the Internet. ACA publications should take best advantage
of both media since both will be with us for the foreseeable
future. For example, the tables of contents, and possibly the
abstracts, of volumes in the ACA Transactions series should be
published on the ACA web page to help generate additional interest
in them. For new volumes, this should be done well in advance
of their paper publication. If elected to the Publications Committee,
I will strive to advance the quality of ACA paper and electronic
publications above its current high standard.
